"Ayant découvert le magnifique disque de Dan Tepfer paru chez Sunnyside (...), je voulais comparer l’enregistrement avec une performance en live. En concert, Dan Tepfer respecte totalement le projet du disque : interpréter en alternance le chef-d’oeuvre de Bach (par coeur !) avec des improvisations de son cru, celles-ci prolongeant de manière contemporaine les variations de Bach. Les quelques bruits de glaçons venus du bar s’éteignirent rapidement pour laisser place à un silence recueilli et concentré. Rarement, j’ai eu l’occasion d’entendre un concert au Sunside dans ces conditions sonores."
